Rise Kujikawa Persona 4 Cosplay Makeup Tutorial + Cosplay Update!

Hey guys, it's time for another cosplay makeup tutorial! This time I'm cosplaying Rise from Persona 4, so I thought I'd take progress photos when doing her makup test.
Stay tuned for a cosplay update of the Persona kind!
I started with Geo Bambi Chocolate Brown lenses, mostly because they're the only brown ones I had on hand, but they looked pretty good!
I then did a base of foundation, also slightly covering my lips, and darkened and filled my eyebrows to match the wig.
I mostly used this picture (on the back of my phone case) as a reference for her eyes.
I was trying out a different eyeliner, a felt tip pen kind, so it took a bit of practice but is good for the tiny details in the corners of my eyes.
I set the eyeliner with translucent powder to make sure it didn't rub off all over my eyelids.
Two little lines on my lids add to the anime effect. Remember to set with translucent powder!
When doing the lines on the lower lids, I also drew on some tiny eyelashes.
Next I used some false lashes (I like Red Cherry)
Finally I added some pink lipstick to complete the look!
And now for the cosplay update! Of course Rise is the first one...
I still need to get her pink glasses ;D
And my crossdress Yu Narukami cosplay happened!
I'll be wearing this to Sunderland Comic Con!
I will be doing a tutorial for Yu's makeup too when I get his male version wig in :3
The skirt turned out pretty good as well, I had to dye it grey, but it turned a little more blue than I expected xD
And finally, here is a cosplay test page for the new Persona 5 Protagonist! I've been obsessed with the trailer since it was released last week, I knew I had to cosplay the new guy ;D
The brown wig I had already ordered with my male Yu one, just as a wig to play about with but it ended up being perfect for this cosplay omg. The white top came with my Rise cosplay, I can re purpose it for this cosplay too. Everything else came from Ebay :3

Custom Persona Phone Case Review - Game Custom Made -

I've been eyeing up the custom cases and skins over at Game Custom Made for a little while now, and since I'm so obsessed with Persona 4 I decided to order myself a phone case! The case cost £20 with free UK shipping, and arrived within 3 days, which was super fast!
Ordering the case was very simple, the online editor is easy to use and you can upload any picture and resize and rotate it to fit the case. As you can see I tried out a few different Persona pictures until I decided on the one I chose!

The case is a really nice quality, the plastic is very thick, and it's really shiny too! The print came out quite nice, maybe a little dark but you can see all the details and there's no patchy areas. Using a high quality picture helped with that of course.
The design is even printed down the sides and around the edges of the case, which are slightly curved and feel very smooth.
The design does get a little distorted on the curved corners (note the P from the Persona logo) but it doesn't distract from the overall quality and I don't mind so much since it's just on the side.
The colours are bright, and the case in general looks professional.
And here is the case on my phone! I have my usual Persona and cat paw charms on, I love having multiple phone charms hanging from my phone~
The case doesn't rise up over the edges of my phone, but I don't mind at all. There's a place where I can put phone charms so I'm happy!
Overall I love this case, I've been wanting a Persona case for a while but all the official ones are super expensive and all look the same, now I have something different that no one else has! (unless they make one too which is cool)
Check out Game Custom Made (I'm not sponsored lmao) for other custom cases and skins for game consoles and controllers as well as phone and tablet cases!

.... I think I'll be getting this one next huehuehue *sweats*

Happy New Year! (+ updates)

Hey guys! I know it's a little late, but Happy New Year! I hope you all had a merry Christmas too :D Just a quick post today to update you guys on a few things, this year is going to be exciting I can feel it!

Tutorials on Super Cute Kawaii!

Some of you may be aware that I applied to be a writer for the cute blog Super Cute Kawaii recently. I wrote 3 guest posts for the blog to gauge response and one of which was a polymer clay cupcake tutorial, which was so well received that I was asked to write a monthly craft tutorial for the blog! My first proper tutorial went out earlier today, make sure you check it out here!

You can check out my other posts on SCK here (or check the new link at the right hand side!)

Anime Conventions and cosplays this year (so far)

Having gone to a few conventions last year, the urge to go to more is so strong! Maybe this year will be the year I have the funds to go to London for Hyper Japan, but for now the conventions I'll definitely be attending are:
  • Sunderland Comic Con (21st Feb)
  • Sunnycon (26-28th June) - I will also be selling here!
  • Anime Attacks (TBA)
I'm also thinking about going to Yorkshire Cosplay Con again this year, but that will depend on money and how to get to the venue. I might also go to King Con this year too!

You may remember my previous post on my cosplay wishlist, and I'm hoping to put most of those cosplays into action this year! I'm hoping to be cross dress Yu Narukami at Sunderland Comic Con (Nico if that doesn't happen in time), I'll be Nagisa and Nico at Sunnycon, and maybe Yu or Rise for Anime Attacks. If I go to any other small cons I'll be either Nico or my Persona cosplays.

Finally, Goals for 2015 and 20k Subscribers!

I recently reached 20,000 subscribers on my Youtube, and I just want to say a huge thank you for everyone! I also made a goals for 2015 video, which is something I've done for the past 3 years. It's really useful to look back on those videos each year and see how much I've achieved! Check out my goals video below:

I think that will be all for the updates, all I'm gonna say is that in terms of my shop, I have a super secret and awesome collaboration happening this year, and though I'll have to work super hard to keep everything going, I'm excited!

Cosplay Wishlist

Making this post for two reasons, to track the amount of cosplays I wanna do, and also to share the characters I want to cosplay.

1. Nagisa Momoe from Madoka Magica Movie Rebellion
Me and a few friends are hoping to do a Madoka Magica cosplay group for Sunnycon next year, so this is the perfect chance for me to cosplay Nagisa :3 We're still looking for people to join so if by any chance you're going to Sunnycon in 2015 and wanna be a magical girl with us then please hmu!

2. Rikka Takanashi from Chuunibyou
Ever since I received my Rikka Azone doll from my last blog post I've been wanting to cosplay Rikka for real! Maybe not this coming year, I have so many cosplay plans Rikka can wait ;-;

3. Yu Narukami / Rise Kujikawa from Persona 4

My two favourite characters from Persona 4... though being a short female with boobs means the only version of Yu I can really cosplay (or feel comfortable cosplaying) is the cross dress version...
I wanna do it.

4. Nico Yazawa from Love Live

I've cosplayed Nico once before, but there's so many outfit choices for her, and tbh I feel as though I basically am Nico now, so I must cosplay her more!

So for Sunnycon I will definitely be Nagisa Momoe, and for the other day of the convention I'll either be Nico or Yu (or maybe Rise idk)
Ahh I'm so indecisive!

Ordering from a Japanese Shopping Service [Noppin]

People often use shopping services to buy from sites like Taobao, a Chinese shopping site similar to Ebay. A shopping service is simply a company which will order what you want to buy from a website or shop oversees that doesn't ship internationally, and for a percentage fee will ship it to you. I wanted a limited edition Rikka Takanashi Azone doll which was only sold on TBS Shop, a Japanese site, so I needed to find a Japanese shopping service to order it. I could find lots of information on services which enable you to buy from China (mainly for Taobao) but I couldn't find much on Japanese ones. I'm hoping to share some useful information for anyone in my situation in the future ^^
She isn't available on the TBS shop any more, but you may be able to find one on Ebay

Cosplay Prop Progress - Nico Yazawa Microphone

I wanted to make a prop to go with my Nico cosplay, so the obvious choice was her cat microphone from the second season! It doesn't look exactly perfect, but it's a neat little prop that will be good for photos~

I didn't take as many photos of the beginning process as I would have liked, so I'll try and explain as I go along. I started with a toilet roll tube and a polystyrene ball, I cut the tube up the side and taped it back together making it tapered towards the bottom. I then taped the ball on top to keep it in place.
I then made ears out of tin foil by making triangle-ball shapes and indenting the middle using my fingernails, it took a while to get the size and shape I wanted, but then I taped them onto the ball. I then covered the whole thing in masking tape. I also added arms and a tail with rolled up tin foil covered in masking tape and taped in place.
Then it was time for paper mache! I mixed PVA glue and water and pasted torn up newspaper onto it. I did about 2-3 layers, until it felt hard and sturdy enough.
You can see the tail from this angle.
Once it was ready I began to paint. I painted areas that were going to be a light colour in white first so the paint would stand out. I also painted the black.
First coat of pink for the base, I changed the colour a lot to get it to look right.
Ear and arm colour, I then painted the black again to neaten it up.
I then painted the face and the mic was complete! Not too neat, but it'll do for photos!
